First Encon Electronics technical seminar of the year

focuses on Apollo, Ritron products

Access control products distributor Encon Electronics hosted a well attended Apollo seminar on March 23rd at their training facility in Hayward, California. This was the first in a series of seminars scheduled at Encon for 2006.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the attendance of Dick Loos, president and co-founder of Apollo. Loos kicked off the seminar by conducting a one-on-one introduction with each of the 43 attendees. Loos then explained the evolution of the Apollo product line. He stressed Apollo's commitment to developing quality products and listed their new circuit boards as a perfect example. According to Loos, "Apollo's new 800 series circuit boards have proven their reliability in the field over the last year. We are confident this board will continue to perform successfully."

John Anderson, Apollo's western regional sales manager, followed with a presentation on the complete Apollo product line, including gate operators and access control products. Anderson focused on the new 3000 series swinger and the 7200/7300 series slider. Loos continued to answer participant questions throughout the seminar.

Frank Pooley, customer service manager, summed up the Apollo portion of the seminar by providing a complete technical overview. Pooley discussed installation techniques and troubleshooting resolutions. He also covered the "ins" and "outs" of the UL board. Lastly, Pooley discussed Apollo solar options in great detail. He explained what applications require solar and how to properly install solar operators. According to Pooely, "Solar applications must be designed property to maintain a consistent system throughout the year."

One attendee noted, "Loos was candid with attendees about past issues with the new UL board and explained how Apollo was able to make simple modifications to improve on the reliability of the board."

The second portion of the seminar covered Ritron Wireless Solutions and was conducted by Encon sales manager, Zach Eichenberger. Eichenberger provided an overview of Ritron and their wireless communication system. He described how Ritron's RQX XT call box coordinates with the JBS base station and JMX radio controls to create an affordable and effective wireless communication system. After covering the technical aspects of wireless installations, Eichenberger explained how this equipment can help overcome common wireless obstacles such as line of sight, distance and power issues. He concluded the seminar by discussing ideal sales applications for Ritron products including golf courses and school/campus security.

According to Eichenberger, "Our training facility and this type of quality seminar provides a perfect venue for dealers to voice their concerns directly to the manufacturer and to learn more about new products. This will increase their product knowledge and their ability to generate revenue in the access control industry."
