Encon hosts annual 2-Day DoorKing seminar

Access control products distributor, Encon Electronics collaborated with leading manufacturer DoorKing on July 24-25th for their annual joint training seminar. The first of the two-day workshop was held at the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove, California. The second day was held at Encon's fully equipped training facility in Hayward, California.

Encon sales manager Zach Eichenberger said, "Our dealers are able to take advantage of the intimate forum our training facility offers and the opportunity to work directly with knowledgeable Encon and manufacturer representatives."

Over fifty Encon dealers attended the two seminars conducted by DoorKing national sales trainer, Ron Miller and regional sales manager, Lamar Jackson. Miller shared his extensive knowledge of DoorKing products and provided hands-on troubleshooting techniques. His technical background and Q&A lecturing style made it easy for participants to ask questions and gain first hand knowledge.

"Mr. Miller covered every product and answered every question I asked," said Justin Lawrence, a participant from R&S Erection of Concord. "The lecturer was very informative and helped clear up any areas of uncertainty I had," noted another attendee.

Encon technical sales representative, Billy Kennedy said, "Miller led the seminar with an informative overview of what to consider when designing a job, then outline their comprehensive telephone entry systems and gate operator line."

Miller covered several new products projected to be released in 2008. According to Miller, "The new platform 1812 residential phone system will be completely IP addressable and PC programmable with optional transaction logs and email notification capability. The latest version of our remote account manager software includes improvements that ease operation. The DoorKing long range prox reader now has an extended range of up to 30 feet when utilizing an "active card" with a replaceable battery."

He also introduced DoorKing's wireless products. "The Wireless Wiegand System allows the installer to extend the connection between the controller and a card Reader or a series of Tracker Boards, Miller said. "The new connectivity options provide different methods of connecting between the PC and the entry system, including improved modem communication, direct hard wired connections up to 4,000 ft, and wireless connections. Miller also discussed their new industrial slide gate operators with variable speed capability including the 9550 that can handle up to a 10,000 pound gate."

After detailing installation guidelines for the new products, Miller dedicated the final portion of the seminar to troubleshooting techniques. He covered system wiring, access devices, programming and end user error. "The troubleshooting tips were the most beneficial part of the seminar. I am already familiar with installing DoorKing products but Mr. Miller's recap on wiring and troubleshooting helped me tremendously," noted one attendee.

Throughout the two days, various items were raffled to seminar participants. The highlight was when Jorge of Aaron Overhead Door in Monterey and Steve of Access Control Systems in Sonoma each scored a Nano IPod courtesy of DoorKing.

Additional Encon seminars are scheduled at their training facility in Hayward, Calif. For information on the remaining 2007 seminar schedule visit www.enconelectronics.com or call toll free 800-782-5598.
